Proposals Relation to the Education of Youth in Pennsylvania Essay Example for Free
Proposals Relation to the Education of Youth in Pennsylvania Essay In the ââ¬Å"Proposals Relation to the Education of Youth in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia,â⬠1749, Benjamin Franklin reconciled public service, the benefits of classical learning, and the necessity of practical training for young people in the colony. Mr. Franklin discussed that knowledge helps to give honor. Not just honor to yourself for knowing what you are doing and talking about but, also an honor for your country to represent them if you were to become a part of office and have to communicate with others outside of country. Not even just to be in office but, to also become a minister or priest for a religion thanks to the studies of religious and civil morality. Thanks to their knowledge the academy will give to them they will be able to help their country in not just honoring them but, helping the citizens in the country. Due to their knowledge they will be able to give the citizens fair amounts of income, fair prices for taxes, and prayers. The men that will have this knowledge will not only be from a rich background with an abundance of money and high class families. As well as, poor background young men with little money and probably no family at all have a chance to receive an education and help their country. Then after one school is built to help young men, more and more can be built by other men with knowledge and help others get the education they once received. In this academy the students will learn similar subjects to what the modern day student learns today. Students will be taught the English language by reading some of the best authors in the 1700ââ¬â¢s. There was Tillotson, Pope, Catoââ¬â¢s Letters, and etc. hould be some of the classics read. They will be taught to write with neat handwriting, swift drawing of arithmetic, accountsâ⬠¦ geometry, and astronomy. All of these can count as basic classes to help with any future job the student might want to have/achieve when they graduate. These basic classes can also help with everyday jobs, for example, directions in the stars while on a journey in the ocean or lost in the fore st (science), buying or trading goods for money (math), or even just being able to read and write a form of a constitution or charter (grammar). Benjamin Franklin also states ââ¬Å"But art is long, and their time is short. â⬠in paragraph 8 of ââ¬Å"Proposals Relation to the Education of Youth in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia,â⬠1749. In the passage, the author also talks of the necessities of practical training which has to do with knowing how to handle and work on machines and the histories on machine. Something that will be taught is the machines used in wars. Men can learn to make these machines and use them. Then they can improve them in ways to make them better so they can be used when needed. The knowledge of machines can help those week men that cannot do much physical work can invent new machines to reduce labor for all men and slaves. Manufacturing companies will begin to grow in ways of money and making more of what they sell. Their money will flourish and the companies will gain power. Once the companies grow, trade will also increase which can make that country gain more money also. That is when math and grammar also come in handy. Manufacturing companies will not only flourish but, farming as well because of the farming technique they give you, to plant cash crops and even plant your own foods to eat at home. Benjamin Franklin put to rights that public service, the benefits of classical learning, and the necessity of practical training for young men in the colonies by giving them knowledge to honor and help themselves and country. Next, the students learning the basics will help with future jobs and everyday lives. Lastly, the men learn to use and invent machines by learning their histories and how they were used. These arguments should make anyone want to open up an academy and teach young men.

From having a rough child hood with his father, to meeting the girl of his dreams, Marguerite, to fighting in world war 2 and totally messing up his leg, to coming home to Marguerite and living his life with no kids, just Marguerite and Ruby Pier, to his 83rd birthday.. à à à à à Itââ¬â¢s just another day at Ruby Pier. Pretty much the same as itââ¬â¢s always been since he was a kid. Well, except for the rides, itââ¬â¢s all new technology now a days. Anyways.. Eddieââ¬â¢s always had Ruby Pier in his life, from when he was little to playing there, to having his father work there, to Eddie working there as a teenager, to now. So itââ¬â¢s just like any other day at the sea side amusement park, Eddieââ¬â¢s there to open the park up, test all the rides to make sure theyââ¬â¢re working properly, waits for the kids to come, then lingers around the park all day, making animals out of pipe cleaners for the kids, picking up, and working at the rids until itââ¬â¢s time to close up. But today, is a bit different then any other day. A warm, sunny afternoon interrupted by the sounds of ââ¬Å"OH my god look! OH MY GOD those people are gonna fall!â⬠Eddie turned his head towards Ruby Parkââ¬â¢s newest ride, Freddyââ¬â¢s free fall. And high in the sky he sees the cart dangling from a few cables, and three people holding on to the bar. A million thoughts rushed to Eddieââ¬â¢s mind at once. How could the cables brake? Why did the cart go off the tracks? How are we going to get the people down? He had to react fast, he got Willie, one of the workers, to get a ladder and get the people off the ladder. Meanwhile Eddie was trying to find a way to get the cart back in place. His first idea was to pop the safety release. He instructed Willie to do so. Then Eddie got thinking.. ââ¬ËThe cable is unraveling..ââ¬â¢ if the safety release is hit, the cart is going to come crashing to the ground. ââ¬Å"DONââ¬â¢T RELEASE THE CART! ITââ¬â¢LL SNAP!!!!!â⬠ââ¬Å" WILLIE STOP! NO NO DONââ¬â¢T!â⬠Too late. ââ¬Å"EVERYONE GET BACK! I would go to bed thinking how amazing it would be if I could die, and go to my heaven, where I have no problems, no cares or worries, and I would be happy. à à à à à à à à à à When I finally reached the end of the book, Iââ¬â¢d made decisions I regretted, but those decisions have made me a stronger person. What Iââ¬â¢m trying to say, is, when I finished reading your book, I came to a realization that god has a plan for all of us. He chooses when itââ¬â¢s time to go, he put us on this earth for a purpose, and when we are done fulfilling that purpose, itââ¬â¢s our time to go. à à à à à à à à à à So I write to you, to thank you for taking the time to write such an amazing book. The Chinese Cultural Revolution
The Cultural Revolution in China was a social movement that took place in 1966 through 1976. This movement involved major changes that took place in the political, economic and social nature of China. These changes were very often for violent and corrupted means. This Cultural Revolution threatened China for 10 years. In the beginning of the revolution. ââ¬Å"Destructive groups such as Red Guards and The Cultural Revolution Authority grasped the power, and China drove into the severe confusionâ⬠(http://library. hinkquest. org/26469/cultural-revolution/). Mao Zedong lead these Red Guard units ââ¬Å"which denunciated and persecuted Chinese teachers and intellectuals, engaged in widespread book burnings, facilitated mass relocations, and enforced Mao's cult of personalityâ⬠(http://www. infoplease. com/ce6/history/A0814235. html). His goal was to prevent the development of a bureaucratized Soviet style of Communism. The Red Guard units turned violent and lead to the group s plitting up into different sides.Agricultural production declined, but the countryside area experienced less disorder than in the cities. ââ¬Å"Production was reduced in the modern nonagricultural sectors in several ways. The most direct cause of production halts was the political activity of students and workers in the mines and factories. A second cause was the extensive disruption of transportation resulting from the requisitioning of trains and trucks to carry Red Guards around the country. Output at many factories suffered from shortages of raw materials and other supplies.A third disruptive influence was that the direction of factories was placed in the hands of revolutionary committees, consisting of representatives from the party, the workers, and the People's Liberation Army, whose members often had little knowledge of either management or the enterprise they were supposed to run. In addition, virtually all engineers, managers, scientists, technicians, and other profession al personnel were ââ¬Å"criticized,â⬠demoted, ââ¬Å"sent downâ⬠to the countryside to ââ¬Å"participate in labor,â⬠or even jailed, all of which resulted in their skills and knowledge being lost to the enterpriseâ⬠(http://countrystudies. s/china/90. htm). The Cultural Revolution also had greater effects on the economy, in which foreign equipment was imported and technological advancement was needed. But the most serious and enduring effect on the economy was the lack of highly educated people do to the closing of the universities. China was unable to develop new technology and work with the imported technology because of its lack of highly educated personal. As political stability was gradually restored, a renewed drive for coordinated, balanced development was set in motion under the leadership of Premier Zhou Enlaiâ⬠(http://countrystudies. us/china/90. htm). During the mid 1970s, a group known as the Gang of Four attempted to dominate the power center through their network of supporters and, most important, through their control of the media (http://countrystudies. us/china/90. htm). Mao Zedong died, and one month later the Gang of Four was arrested.

Child Labor A Broad Term, And The Exploitation Of Minors
Child labor is a broad term, and the exploitation of minors remains a global issue without a global solution. Divides in cultural acceptance and a misunderstanding of what the term encompasses results in far too many adults failing to recognize how child labor affects their country. First, we must recognize all areas of exploitation that child labor incorporates and how there are child labor *victims* being arrested on American soil. Yes, victims of child labor can be arrested, or fear arrest, due to their exploitation being rooted in prostitution. They know their actions may be deemed illegal, despite the fact they are coerced and existing in a non-consensual arrangement. ## Equal Rights for All Child Labor Victims The false publicâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Both violate basic human rights, and a greater understanding of these social injustices will lead to people not focusing on deciding which is worse, but rather, how to eradicate child labor by and large. Degrees of severity are subjective, and all child labor violations need to be recognized and reported without fear of retribution. Just as a merchant has a right to report suspected child labor violations by a supplier, of-age consenting adults on the frontline of prostitution should be able to have a safe dialogue with police about suspected child sexual exploitation. Decriminalization of prostitution is one means of opening up safe reporting of child sex crimes. Too many women and men willingly working in the sex industry are apprehensive about reporting such crimes, as they fear
